Learning to Live: Independent Living Program
This program provides learning experiences to help youth develop life skills that will help move them toward self-sufficiency.
Each individual will be assessed using the Ansell Casey Life Skills Assessment to determine the domains where the youth has strengths and challenges. This assessment will explore the youths’ abilities in:
- Career planning
- Communication
- Daily living
- Housing and money management
- Self-care
- Social relationships
- Work life
- Work and study skills
- Access to mental health services
Learning objectives focus on addressing individual needs. Each youth will attend daily groups in an educational setting that will facilitate the learning process. In order to provide additional support for prioritized skill building, an IL mentor will be assigned. This individual mentor will collaborate with the program therapists to ensure that program treatment, education and IL are combined services that offer a full spectrum of treatment and opportunity for the youth served.
